Never in my whole life came into my senses and even in my most odd imagination that one day I would miss a flight! Such an awful feeling. I had a hard time forgiving myself for what happened. I felt like I was the most stupid person on earth at that time. But what else can I do but to accept the situation and do something about it.
It was on our flight back to Croatia when it happened, We left Manila at 12mn on the first of February aboard Qatar Airways.. It was a long flight but still managed to enjoy. It was about 0530 Qatar local time when we landed in Doha. We were supposed to be an hour earlier but since the flight had a delay we were an hour late of their supposed ETA. As soon as we reached the terminal we immediately looked for our gate assignment and finally found it..As soon as we found we were so at ease that we assumed that the 0740 we have seen on the screen is the boarding time and to our surprise.. it is the departure time. To cut the story short we approached the counter when the plane has already took its take off.. and from there..we had all the panic the shame and the craziness..We were referred to their customer service and as we went there it caused as impatience for we have to go through their queue no matter how bad our situation is. And from there we realized that we cannot do anything else to catch that flight rather we have to look for another flight that would bring us to Croatia. We are seamen, we have our captains, our mangers, our agents we are not just an ordinary tourists who care no one when things alike are happening. It was clearly a setback but we do not have any choice but to face it. face the consequences of our actions or the lack of it.. Thanks to the wifi airport we managed to inform our Captain about our situation and disregarding our pride asked help from him.. With his prompt actions triggering those concerned people including the ones who will issue a new OK TO BOARD letter we settle ourselves without paying any charges. God is always good. And we saved ourselves and got on board the following day..a 24hours stay in an airport was not so easy especially handling those strict airport/counter personnel. Anyone would not wish to be on that situation, a lesson learned. wherever you are you have to be alert and vigilant. On an airport like Doha never rely on PA's coz it is not working for them.
